What if a substitute teacher has no access to the internet?
They simple put the substitute coordinator's e-mail address in their account. The website will therefore e-mail the substitute coordinator reminding them that they have a job offer. They will receive a phone call from your substitute coordinator. Also, they may login at school to confirm jobs. | top
What if a teacher has no access to the internet? They will simply call your substitute coordinator and request-off just as before. | top
How does a teacher request-off in the morning or at the last minute? They log-on to the website and request off. Their request will be instantly uploaded to the website and your substitute coordinator will see it immedately. During morning hours, emails will be sent to all available substitutes. The small number of job openings on the unconfirmed list will be easily handled via phone by your substitute coordinator. Once the teacher is assigned a substitute, they will be on the confirmed list and will be sent a confirmation e-mail. | top
What happens if SubSmartRegistry.com goes down? If for any reason SubSmartRegistry.com goes down, we will e-mail or call all school districts and notify them that the website is down. Each school should be able to call substitutes. However, the substitute coordinator will have all the confirmation e-mails to determine who has confirmed. Each school should have a plan to handle the website going down but we do not expect this to happen. In fact, the server that SubSmart Registry is on has a 99.99% rate of operation. However, within the next year we hope to get a "mirror" server to host our website. This will make it virtually impossible for service to be interupted because both servers at different locations would have to go down. | top
What happens if your school's computers or internet go down? Your substitute coordinator should immediately call SubSmart Registry and we will handle that days calling of the substitutes. Another good thing about our system is that it is internet based. Your substitute coordinator can gain access from any computer on the internet. If a school's computers are down then the substitute coordinator may work from another location of their choosing. This is obviously a good idea if your school computers or internet connection are down for several days. | top
What happens if a substitute does not confirm/decline an assignment? Teaching assignments will be offered down a "job offer pyramid" based on a calculated time interval. This interval is longer the further the job is away. If a substitute does not confirm or decline the job will be offered to more and more substitutes as time goes on. | top
Can a teacher retract or cancel a day off? Yes, if you decide to NOT take the day off, you can log-in and cancel your substitute. If this is done a day or more in advance then the website will notify your substitute automatically. The substitute will then confirm that they have been cancelled. However, if you have to cancel in the morning it would probably be best to call your registry person. | top
